Jomon No Yado Manten
The recently refurbished hot spring hotel, Jomon No Yado Manten, is ideally situated just across the road from Yakushima’s small airport and halfway between the two main towns of Miyanoura and Anbo. Flights arrive and depart between 9am – 7pm, so there is no disturbance at night or early in the morning. The accommodation offers 39 rooms in total with both western and Japanese style rooms. The rooms comprise of ‘Slow Houses’ – detached, circular cottages with a private bathroom and also more traditional ryokan style accommodation in the main building. There are western twin rooms and Japanese style rooms.
The hotel set is in spacious grounds and boasts both indoor and outdoor onsens, two kinds of sauna, relaxation rooms and a variety of massage and relaxation treatments.
Jomon No Yado Manten is a 1 minute walk from the airport and easily accessible by bus from either port of Anbo or Miyanoura. There is free parking for 70 cars. Nearby there is a bus stop and a drug store / supermarket and small home center.
The meals at Manten are based on fresh Yakushima and Kagoshima sourced ingredients including a wide variety of sashimi and the ubiquitous flying fish. Breakfast is buffet-style with a mixture of Japanese and western choices.
