Snorkelling

From April to November a very popular ocean activity is snorkelling. The rocky shore has some interesting underwater life to explore and the local marine guide will know which places to go to at different times of the year. The sea temperature ranges from 20C in the winter to 28C in the summer and the warm seas mean that there are a whole array of fish and other marine life.  There are coral areas where the marine life is abundant and during the summer months it becomes quite common to observe adult turtles.  Do not go close to the turtles and certainly do not attempt to touch one as they are not adverse to seeing if your fingers are edible!

This activity is suitable for elementary children up to guests aged around 60 years.

A half day snorkelling activity is 8,000 yen per person.

Additional Info:

  • When participating on YES tours or water activities all guests must have travel insurance to cover accident and medical costs in Japan. Guests without travel insurance in Japan can receive insurance cover from Tokio Marine Nichido Insurance.

Cancellation Policy

A cancellation charge will be waivered only if adverse weather prevents the guest from arriving to Yakushima, or adverse weather forces us to cancel the tour. Under all other circumstances if a the guest cancels a tour then cancellation charges apply.
