Kotobuki
You'll feel as if you've stepped back in time.
Kotobuki is a difficult place to find, but well worth the effort. It's set just off the main road a few kilometers south of the Kusugawa Onsen on the mountain-side of the road. Drive carefully and when you see a small children's play area with wooden swing and slide you are there. Park your vehicle at the bottom (on the grass near the swings!) and walk up the hill along a 'castle-like' walkway to the restaurant. The setting is outstanding and the homely Japaneses interior feels like you have stepped back in time, the perfect place to take a time out from the everyday, relax and talk. If you wish to eat then you MUST book a few days in advance and the menu is set at 2,000 yen per person with the meal being dependent on the day's fresh ingredients. If you haven't booked then you still have the option of a drink and 'light meal'.
